AP Human Geography Summer Letter (summer pre-course prep; expectations and advice)
Test Retake Guidelines: Reassessment opportunities are available for all students on UNIT TESTS only Reassessment may require proof of preparation, to be determined by the teacher. Reassessment will occur in tutorials and by appointment only, after school hours. There is no reassessment for any end of semester exams. See the course syllabus for more details.
TED Talk Template:
- For all units, beginning with Unit 2, you may complete up to TWO (2) TED Talk analyses for extra credit quiz points (up to 10 per analysis).
- You MUST choose a TED Talk that is related to the content of the current unit...the more related to unit content the greater the chance you will earn maximum points!
- Use TED Talks, not TED Ed
- Must be hand-written (in your handwriting) and turned in by the day of the unit test.
AP Exam & Course Review Materials:
- Study for the AP Exam ALL YEAR - don't wait until it's almost test time. With the fast pace of the course you will need to review frequently in order to digest the content and be prepared for assessments.
- Students will be using the Advanced Placement Human Geography book by AMSCO I recommend that students purchase the book if they would like a copy to write in – it is available on this website (https://www.perfectionlearning.com/advanced-placement-human-geography-2nd-edition-t4038-g.html), but students may be able to check one out from Midtown if they do not purchase one (school-owned copies need to be returned in good condition by the end of the school year).
- Some students also in invest in an exam prep book (such as Princeton Review or Barron’s) to help them study throughout the year and leading up to the AP Exam (try to use one dated 2020 or later). There is also a phone app called iScore5 which features questions written by actual AP exam writers (good for review AFTER learning the material, but not a primary review resource). It is recommended that you review throughout the year – we will cover a lot in class, but students who were most successful on the exam engaged in frequent outside review.
